Design and features:These earphones have medium sensitivity so they can provide satisfying volume levels when used with home audio equipment and all but the lowest-powered portable audio devices. The SoundTrue Ultra In-Ear has an inline volume control that works with Samsung Galaxy and some other Android mobile devices, plus an integrated microphone and music player function control that are compatible with Android and Apple mobile devices and some other cellphones. The call connect/disconnect button can be used with some Android and Apple mobile devices and some other cellphones. These headphones may not operate properly with some non-Apple/non-Android mobile devices or other audio equipment. This model is claimed to be water resistant by the manufacturer and comes with three pairs of earpieces in various sizes and a carrying case.
Sound quality: We found the SoundTrue Ultra in-ear delivers sound quality that falls in the very good range: It reproduces music and voice very well, although it does have some noticeable sonic quirks. The overall sound can best be summarized as neutral and a bit soft. Bass (as in bass drums, bass guitars, stand-up bass, etc.) has good impact and decent definition and goes fairly deep. The midrange (voices, guitars, horns, etc.) is fairly even, but slightly hazy and grainy. The treble (cymbals, the upper range of violins, etc.) tapers off towards the upper end of its range: the lower- and mid-treble are fairly even, but slightly soft and the upper treble is subdued. The sound has a good sense of liveliness and is somewhat open in the upper midrange lower treble (sound-wise, it almost seems like you don't have anything plugging your ears), while the rest of the tonal range sounds closed in.
Comfort: These earphones have a hybrid ear-insert/earbud design: The earpieces seal the ear canals but they don't insert into the ear canals as far as typical ear-insert models. They are also supported by the ear bowls, like an earbud model. They fit and stay in place with no problem, and the ear-bowl-support earpieces make them very stable, even with vigorous head movement.
