Kitchen Tools
Ecolution Micro Pop Microwave Popcorn Popper
If you need a microwave popcorn maker, this BPA-free model was our favorite from our evaluations. It’s glass and dishwasher safe. But note that it works only with microwaves with a turntable.
Dowan Butter Crock
This budget-friendly butter crock has a retro look, akin to something you’d find in an antique shop. It’s dishwasher safe and comes in a plethora of colors, including robin’s egg blue, classic red, sapphire blue, and white.
Bell Dream Popsicle Molds
If you’re interested in making your own popsicles, this mold might be a great option, especially for the price. While our reviewer had some trouble removing the popsicles (something a bit of wriggling should fix), this mold is made of silicone, so it’s dishwasher-safe, other than the plastic handles. It also comes with a funnel for easy filling, and a brush to get any stuck-on bits out before washing.
Made by one of the most trustworthy thermometer companies in the grilling industry, the ThermoPro TP19H instant read meat thermometer offers handheld temperature reading with a single stowable probe. There’s a built-in LED and rotation lock for the display, and a magnetic backing allows you to store it on your refrigerator between meals. Perfect for checking meats, this simple and affordable thermometer delivers reliably accurate readings within seconds of probing.
With the on-page coupon, this is now $1 less than its best price.
Dash Safe Slice Mandoline
Unlike other mandolines where the blade is stationary, this mandoline operates like a ruthless guillotine. Ruthless for your food, not your fingers, because your hands don’t need to go anywhere near the action. The stand-up mandoline measures 8 x 4.75 x 14.25 inches and has a spring-loaded pump lever that operates the blade. There’s a food hopper where you would usually be holding food with your hand and a bin to catch everything that comes out. The two julienne blades are integrated within the slicer, so there’s no need to manually swap out any attachments.
Fullstar Food Chopper
The Fullstar Chopper has a large cutting area and is incredibly sharp. The main grid has 1/2-inch and 1/4-inch chopping blades. It also includes a spiralizer and a ribbon cutter as well as a food grip for using these, two cleaning scrapers, and cleaning brush.
Rük 22 in 1 Veggie Dicer
The rubberized feet of the RüK hold the basin fairly still while you’re using it. And the cutting top seals securely to the basin, too, so when you’re pressing down, the whole unit holds fairly still. The RüK features extra inserts not only for chopping, but for grating and for mandoline work. Pop out the chopping lid for the grating/mandoline/julienne tool and slide in the blade you want to use and the working surface remains relatively low and easy to stabilize with one hand while you cut across the top with the other.
The Meater+ meat thermometer is a wireless leave-in thermometer that uses Bluetooth to transmit temperatures to your phone in real time. That means you don’t need to open the grill lid or oven door to see how your roast chicken or brisket is progressing.
This thermometer is $99 everywhere else but it sold for $13 less at Amazon during the last Prime Day, so keep an eye out for any sudden price drop or wait until Black Friday for a potentially better price.
Kitchen Mama Electric Can Opener
The Kitchen Mama Electric Can Opener is an easy alternative to those hard-to-grip hand-crank openers. With the touch of a button, this battery-operated model opens any can quickly, leaving a smooth, safe edge around the rim.
Amazon Basics Digital Kitchen Scale
This round stainless steel kitchen scale measures from 2 to 5,000 grams (or 11 pounds). It has an LCD screen and a tare button.
Etekcity Digital Food Scale
This square digital scale, which was our runner-up choice in CR’s evaluations, can measure up to five units. It’s made from stainless steel and has an easy-to-read LCD display.
Air Fryers
College students, solo dwellers, or anybody who’s a tad tight on counter space—the Cosori Lite CAF-LI211 is for you. This measured 1.7-quart air fryer is packed with appealing features such as a dishwasher-safe basket, preprogrammed settings, and a digital display, but, with a footprint of just 9x11 inches, it comes in a small package (and a fairly small price tag, too). What’s more, this model was a standout in our tests, receiving high marks for being easy to use and to clean and remaining at low volume while cooking. The Cosori Lite comes with a two-year warranty.
The Cosori Dual Blaze is a bit expensive, but we think it’s still worth highlighting, given its large measured capacity (4.7 quarts), smartphone integration, and all-around strong performance in all the areas we test. The monolithic exterior might not be to everyone’s taste, but with few nooks and crannies in its design, this machine is easy to clean. It also comes with a two-year warranty, a year longer than many air fryer warranties.
The Dash Tasti-Crisp is small but mighty. At a measured capacity of 1.9 quarts and an overall size of less than a square foot, this 6-pound model is one of the most compact air fryers in our ratings. Still, it ranks among the best. It earns solid scores for controls and cleaning, and excels in our noise test. It shares the honor of being the quietest air fryer in our ratings with its analog counterpart, the Dash Express Tasti Crisp. It has a one-year warranty, which is typical for most models.
The Instant Vortex 4 Plus Air Fryer 4QT is a standout for the legibility of its digital controls, relatively low noise levels, and ease of cleaning. What’s more, its square basket design makes it easy to fit in a small pyrex dish or baking pan—great for turning out sweet treats. The measured 3-quart model has a 1-year warranty.
The Instant Vortex Plus 6-Quart Air Fryer has a clear window, making it easy to monitor your cooking without having to pull out the basket. Despite its name, the model’s measured capacity is 5.2 quarts. It earns a top-notch rating for its controls and comes with customizable cooking programs and a digital display. In addition to being easy to use, this dishwasher-safe fryer also shows strong performances in our noise and cleaning tests.
Mixers
The KitchenAid Architect KHM7210 7-Speed hand mixer comes in five colors, including the brand’s familiar Empire Red, but check before ordering to make sure the color you want is included in the sale. This little handheld is proficient at speedily whipping cream and tackling stiff cookie dough while keeping a lid on the noise level. Our testers find its controls convenient, grip comfortable, and beater insertion a breeze. The model comes with wire beaters and a whisk.
The KitchenAid Classic Series K45SSWH matches the performance of its more-expensive brandmates, meaning it excels at mixing, kneading, and whipping, and it does it all quietly. The 10-speed mixer comes with a 5-quart stainless steel bowl (without a handle), a flat beater, a dough hook, and a wire whisk. It’s compatible with all KitchenAid attachments (sold separately), so you can branch out from baking to preparing a wider variety of foods, such as sausage and pasta. It weighs 21 pounds. Unlike some KitchenAids, this model comes only in white (now on sale) and black.
For this sale, you get your pick of three colors of this KitchenAid hand mixer, which gets admirable scores in our tests for quickly whipping up cream and thoroughly mixing stiff cookie dough. It’s among the less noisy models we’ve tested, and shines when it comes to convenience; among its features is a cleverly integrated storage clip that keeps loose beaters from getting lost in your kitchen drawer.
Cookware
One nice plus of this 11-piece stainless cookware set is that it includes a steamer insert for the 3-qt. covered saucepan. Another is that the lids are glass, so it’s easy to see whether you’ve got a boil going. The set earns plaudits for cooking evenness, speed of heating, and keeping tomato sauce at an even simmer. It’s also good at releasing food and, subsequently, being easy to clean.
The Circulon Scratch Defense A1 Series Cookware Set is adept at cooking evenly and food release. The saucepan earns praise for its ability to hold sauce at a steady simmer. The 9-piece set includes two frying pans (10 in. and 8.5 in.), two covered saucepans (1 quart and 3 quarts), a covered 3-quart. sauté pan, and a covered 6-quart. stockpot. It’s dishwasher safe and induction-compatible, and the glass lids are a nice plus.
At just about 5 pounds, this six-quart Dutch oven from Our Place is lightweight—but only in the best sense of the word. When it comes to performance, it’s hard to beat, earning praise for ease of cleaning, bread baking, sauce simmering, cooking evenness, and speed of heating. Made of aluminum with a ceramic coating, it’s also induction-compatible, and oven-safe to 425° F. If you didn’t buy one during July’s Prime Day sale, now’s your time to act – and gloat. Because it’s $10 cheaper this time around.
Tia Mowry’s celeb cookware line is named Spice for its colorful exteriors, including mint, saffron (the bright yellow version we tested), and classics such as teal and gray. And so, perhaps fittingly, the discount you score right now varies from color to color. We found a healthy 38 percent off the Mint and Aqua Blue finishes, but only 30 percent off the teal. Whichever you choose, this Dutch oven delivers. It heats up quickly, bakes bread to perfection, simmers sauces well, and is among the easiest to clean.
This frying pan has seen discounts throughout the summer, but this deal matches the rock-bottom price we saw in July. The 10.5-inch Always Pan cooks evenly and its ceramic coating rates well for food release and durability. The handle is super-sturdy and cool to the touch when cooking. Though made of aluminum, the pan is induction-compatible, says the manufacturer.
Pie Pans
Farberware Baker's Advantage Ceramic Pie Dish, 10-Inch
This ceramic pie pan is weighty in the best way. It felt substantial enough to bake our pies without risk of a inadvertent bend or poke through the bottom with a sharp knife. Plus, it’s easy to clean.
The Kaqinu 12.6-inch carbon steel wok is flat-bottomed, has a hammered texture, and comes pre-seasoned, with a wooden lid and a variety of stainless steel tools. It heats evenly and with speed. Cleaning, however, is a bit of a challenge. And while easy to use, the wok lacks an extra handle, making it harder to move when full.
The nonstick cast-aluminum Swiss Diamond frying pan earns praise for cooking evenness, handle temperature, and handle sturdiness and the traditional nonstick surface is plenty durable and very good at releasing cooked-on food. Be aware, though, that you won’t be able to use it on your induction cooktop.
At 2.7 pounds, this 12.8-inch flat-bottomed wok is light, cooks evenly, and heats up very quickly. It’s easy to use, but a little tougher to clean than others. It comes with a wooden lid and assorted tools. The price has hovered about 30 percent below its listed price for a while now, but there’s no guaranteeing it will stay there after today’s event.
Multi-Cookers
Multi-cookers may have taken a back seat to air fryers in recent years, but they still certainly come in handy in the kitchen. This 10-in-1 6-quart multi-cooker from Chef iQ brings the features that people love about the appliance and updates it with wi-fi connectivity and a built-in scale. Our evaluators found it to be quite proficient at pressure cooking, slow cooking and rice cooking, though sauteing and steaming—not so much.
This 8-quart Instant Pot is one of the largest pressure cookers we’ve tested. It’s also one of the best performers in our lab tests. The 1,500-watt cooker boasts excellent ratings for both pressure-cooking and slow-cooking, and it does a very good job at sautéing. It’s loaded with features, such as an air-frying mode (including a two-tier air-fry basket), a dehydrate function, a stainless steel inner pot, and a storage cover.
Toasters and Toaster Ovens
With a temperature range of 120° F to 450° F, the 1,800-watt Breville The Smart Oven BOV800XL does a nice job baking food, reheating leftovers, and turning out an even batch of medium-brown toast. It’s a cinch to operate and easy to clean. Plus, CR members give the brand high praise for reliability and owner satisfaction, according to our most recent toaster oven survey. One minor drawback, though: Our testers find that this model is only so-so at toasting a single slice of bread to perfection.
The Breville The Compact Smart Oven BOV650XL does quite well in our toasting tests but isn’t the strongest at reheating or baking. It does, however, find redemption in its ease of cleaning. In addition to traditional functions like baking, broiling, and toasting, it has presets for making pizza, baking cookies, toasting bagels, and roasting. CR members have found Breville to be quite reliable, garnering strong scores for both owner satisfaction and predicted reliability in our latest member survey on toaster ovens.
The Ninja 2-in-1 Double Oven DCT401 is a top performer, earning admirable scores in nearly all of our lab tests. It stands out for its unique design—two separate ovens in one—its ease of use, and how well it bakes and toasts. The one area where this 1,800-watt model falls slightly short is reheating. Still, a temperature range of 100° F to 450° F, a digital display, an air-frying function, and the capacity to cook a whole chicken make this Ninja a pretty solid pick.
Although it doesn’t land in the very top tier of our ratings, the compact Panasonic FlashXpress NB-G110P Oven is still a great all-around choice. Our baking tests find that this 1,300-watt unit excels at toasting not only a single slice of bread but also a batch. It features a temperature range of 250° to 500° F and has one rack position. Panasonic models also receive high scores for reliability in CR’s member survey. One drawback—this unit isn’t the easiest to use or clean.
Blenders
If you need a blender for simple meal prep tasks, $30 off might be a good incentive to try Ninja BN701 with Auto iQ, a 1,400-watt model that our tests confirm purees better than its other functions. The 9-cup blender has seven speeds; presets for smoothies, ice crush and ice cream; and it comes with a removable blade, plastic travel jar, and a recipe guide.
Coffee Makers
This single-serving Keurig coffee maker is now just $10 more than its best price. It can brew hot coffee, cold coffee, and a “strong brew” that’s a little more intense than the standard hot-coffee setting. It has three brew sizes—8, 10, and 12 ounces—and a removable drip tray, so you can brew directly into travel mugs up to 7 inches tall. In our tests, we found that the brew speed was very good, as was the brew size consistency. It was a little inconsistent in terms of temperature, but our testers otherwise found the coffee maker very convenient and easy to operate, refill, and clean.
The Ninja Hot & Iced coffee maker can brew full carafes of coffee and any of five single-serving brew sizes, from a small cup of coffee to a large travel mug’s worth. What makes it stand out in particular are its brew styles: along with a classic and rich setting, it has settings to brew over ice and to make cold brew—which isn’t technically cold brew (in the sense that it isn’t brewed cold over a long period of time), but it brews at a low temperature that gives the coffee a smoother flavor and allows it to chill faster. In our tests, its brew performance was solid, but it really stood out for its convenience—easy operation and cleanup—and its handy carafe. It also has a removable water reservoir, a cleaning indicator, and auto-shutoff.
At just 5 inches wide, the Keurig K-Slim is an especially sleek and compact pod-coffee machine that performed admirably in our tests: It brews speedily and consistently in terms of cup size, and our testers found it intuitive to operate and clean. It’s a little inconsistent in terms of temperature. But with four brew sizes, a height-adjustable drip tray, and a removable water reservoir, it’s an efficient and effective coffee maker. It’s on sale for nearly half price.
Food Processors
We’ve never seen such a big discount on the Breville the Sous Chef 12 BFP660. This 1,000-watt processor comes with a 12-cup cap, BPA-free plastic work bowl, and a large 5-inch-wide chute that accepts larger veggie chunks—saving time on pre-cutting ingredients. Its safety brake system prevents the motor from running until the bowl, lid, and feed pusher are locked into position.
The 500-watt KitchenAid KFP1318BM food processor offers a fairly large capacity of 13 cups and a variety of blades and discs for all of your chopping, shredding, slicing and kneading needs. At 8.3 pounds, it’s not the lightest processor in our ratings, but it’s considerably lighter than some of the other large models in our tests. An in-bowl accessories caddy also adds to easy storage. One knock: The parts and motor are covered by just a one-year warranty.
At 25 percent off, you can snag this lightweight Ninja Foodi Ultimate System SS401 and enough accessories to keep you whipping, crushing, slicing and blending for days on end. The 1,200-watt blender/processor holds up to 9 cups and comes with a built-in tamper; a blender lid and processor chute lid; a smoothie attachment and hit-the-road nutrient extraction cup; and processing discs for shredding, slicing and grating. It has seven pre-set programs for smoothies, extractions, bowls, spreads, chopping, processing and even dough making.
Food Storage Containers
This set of 10 glass containers with colorful lids aced our tests for seal quality, durability, and keeping food fresh. The set come with five large rectangular containers and five small rectangular ones, and the lids have clamps and a removable silicone gasket. The containers are safe for the oven and microwave, and the containers with their lids can be stored in the freezer and washed in the dishwasher.
This Homearray set scored very well in our tests for durability, storage, and seal quality—and our testers found it easy to use, too. Each container has a plastic lid with snap-and-lock flaps and removable rubber seals, and each proved to be airtight and leakproof in our tests. This set is not oven-safe, however. Its containers of different sizes (from 12 ounces to 94 ounces) provide storage options for everything from a workday lunch to a potluck party.
Nugget Icemakers
This AGLucky icemaker is the third-highest-rated icemaker we’ve tested. It produces bullet ice and is among the most efficient in our tests. Its good score for speed is slightly slower than the winner from GE, and it’s slightly noisier than the winner and the runner-up. The company claims it can produce up to 26.5 pounds of ice per day. It has a self-cleaning function and, depending on where you purchase it, comes in up to five colorways (black, green, gray, red, and white). It measures 12.6 inches high, 8.7 inches wide, and 12.3 inches deep, making it countertop-friendly, and its tank capacity is comparable to the other models except for the
This self-cleaning countertop icemaker makes nine bullet-shaped ice cubes in just six minutes. Two of the coolest aspects of this machine are that you can make large or small ice cubes and it has a self-cleaning function. Choose from seven shades: black, black transparent, green, red, silver, stainless steel, and white.
The Vivohome Electric Portable Icemaker can make up to 26 pounds of ice a day, isn’t noisy, and doesn’t take up too much of your precious countertop space. This model comes in seven colorways—black, red, silver, light green, blue, white, and copper—and has a top-open design. It has a self-clean mode and a one-year warranty.
Rice Cookers
This pricey 3-cup rice cooker consistently makes beautiful rice, earning a strong rating for cooking rice, but takes its sweet time—almost 45 minutes to cook white rice and a whopping 90 minutes to cook brown rice. Still, it’s the all-around best-performing and most foolproof rice cooker we tested. It’s also the only rice cooker in our ratings that uses induction technology.
We also like that it’s intuitive to use. It has set programs for cooking white, two types of brown, rinse-free, and sushi rice. Plus, there are additional programs for mixed grains, rice porridge, quick-cooking, and delayed start. It’s the rice cooker to have if you love cooking all kinds of rice. The pot and removable inner lid are also easy to clean, and the white markings on the dark pot are the easiest to see of the bunch.
