A supportive mattress is crucial for a great night’s sleep, and if you like a resilient feel, an innerspring mattress may be right for you. Our ratings feature more than 150 innerspring models that we’ve tested in our labs. And while there are certainly many luxurious options, complete with fluffy pillowtops, organic covers, and high prices, you’ll also find quite a few under-$800 options that’ll offer nice support along with just the right amount of springiness, too.

    More on Mattresses

Below, we highlight some of the best budget innersprings in our tests. For more options, check out our comprehensive ratings, where you can filter mattresses based on type, price, firmness level, and other criteria that matter most to you. You can also explore our interactive mattress finder, which can help you pick the right mattress for your sleep based on how you answer a few questions. For specifics on how to shop for a mattress, see our mattress buying guide.

How We Picked the Best Innerspring Mattresses

To identify the best budget innerspring mattresses, we filtered our innerspring ratings for models costing $800 or less. We then zeroed in on those that performed well overall in our lab tests. That means they demonstrated excellent (or at least very good) support for back and side sleepers of most sizes, they have decent motion isolation (which we call “stabilization” in our ratings), and they showed impressive durability.

We also take into account comfort and owner satisfaction ratings for each brand and mattress type, based on CR member surveys. In these surveys, we ask our members about their experiences with mattresses purchased between 2012 and 2022—that amounts to data on a total of 66,803 mattresses.

These innersprings are not only more budget-friendly than most but also supportive and durable. And while innersprings typically don’t excel at isolating motion, most of these models are pretty good at that, too. (We note the one instance where it isn’t.) All prices are for queen-size mattresses.
