    Every year, I go through the same dilemma. As the seasons change from winter to spring, I scramble to find space in my closet to accommodate the blankets and comforters that I no longer need. The bulky bedding, once crucial to my comfort during the doldrums of December and January, is now a challenge when I’m trying to store it away.

    Maybe you’re like me and struggling to put away your winter clothes and bedding now that it’s spring. Or perhaps you’re about to travel and looking for a way to decrease the volume of clothing in your luggage. In both cases, an item like a vacuum storage bag, which can be compressed to create more space, can be a handy solution.

    Vacuum storage bags are plastic bags that can be sealed airtight and then compressed, usually by using a vacuum cleaner or a pump to draw the air inside the bags out. But while they’re useful, it can be difficult for consumers to know which ones to purchase because, let’s face it, many of these vacuum storage bags look alike.

    I tried out six different brands to find out which vacuum storage bags are the best. In the process, I stuffed the bags with various items, including my comforters, tablecloths, towels, and clothes, such as sweaters and puffer jackets. I ranked the bags on performance, ease of usage, durability, and additional design features. These are the ones I recommend.
