Sound quality: JBL's CLIP 5 had acceptable overall sound quality - while no sound system is perfect, the sonic shortcomings of this model are minor. Bass has little impact, is subdued and deep bass is lacking. Midrange is fairly even but is somewhat grainy and a bit thin. Treble lacks extension and is somewhat prominent, smeared and sizzly. Does a so-so job of recovering room ambience and is somewhat congested. The speaker is monophonic. Provides a decent volume level in a small sized room and is best suited for near field listening, at its loudest volume levels, the sound becomes strained.
