Sound quality: JBL's Boombox 2 had Good overall sound quality. Bass has good impact and goes deep but is boomy and prominent and can be overwhelming with some content. Midrange is even but slightly grainy and hazy. Treble is extended but a bit sizzly, and ranges from a bit subdued to a bit prominent depending on the program material. Does a decent job of recovering room ambience; sounds slightly congested and lacks fine detail. When two units are used as a stereo pair the sound stage can be made wider depending on placement. There was no significant difference between Bluetooth and wired sound quality. Provides a decent volume level in a large sized room.

Water submersible (IPX7). With Party Boost (Bluetooth speaker linking feature), you can connect over 100 compatible JBL Bluetooth speakers. Can stereo pair with a second unit of the same model. Free JBL Portable (formerly JBL Connect) app download for Apple and Android mobile devices can be used to check battery status, update unit firmware, initiate Party Boost mode, and set up stereo pairing of two Boombox 2 speakers. Unit firmware version 0.2.3, Apple app version 5.1.5, Android app version 5.1.6.
