Sound quality: Edifier's S1000DB had excellent sound quality. Bass has good impact and goes deep; has decent definition but is slightly prominent and boomy. Midrange is fairly even but is a touch grainy and hazy. Treble is extended and fairly detailed but slightly prominent and a touch smeared. Does a good job of recovering room ambience but is slightly congested. Provides a decent volume level in a large sized room. No significant difference between Bluetooth, optical, coax, Aux and PC wired sound quality except bass is slightly more prominent with Optical, Coax, Aux and PC inputs.
Ease of use: We found the Edifier S1000DB ease of use to be very good overall. Bluetooth pairing was very easy as it is always in pairing mode when not paired. Wiring up the two speakers is also very easy and requires no tools and no errors in polarity. The controls are on the rear of the right speaker for power, volume, bass and treble which are clearly labeled; the controls on the remote are well marked with clear distinction for which source is selected except for some ambiguity on the unit (LED lights only) where some LED lights are duplicated for the selection made. Per the inconvenient location of the controls the physical remote control is easier to use to access most controls except bass and treble adjustments. The volume control is a labeled multi-function infinite-turn knob (volume/Input selector) which has a visual indicator on front of unit when max and min volume is reached. The remote volume control is a duplicated function and is unlabeled as such ambiguous. Where on the D-Pad volume up is controlled by pressing up/right and volume down with down/left.
