Design and features:This Bluetooth wireless noise canceling home/studio-style over-ear model provides fair sound and excellent active noise reduction. Its closed design and electronic noise canceling feature reduce both outside noise and sound leaking out into your environment. The headphones work with or without the noise canceling feature being turned on. You can use the noise-canceling feature without listening to music, and the audio cable can be detached to get it out of the way when the headphones are being used for noise reduction only. The headphones have medium high sensitivity when powered with or without the noise cancelation feature turned on and when unpowered, so they can provide satisfying volume levels when used with home audio equipment and lower-powered portable audio devices. The M-200 ANC has a volume control plus an integrated microphone and player function controls. Additional features include Detachable audio cable. Magnetically attached replaceable earpads. Earcups fold for ease of carrying and storage. It has 10 levels of ANC can be adjusted using V-Moda app. Using the hand to cover the sensor on the lower part of the left earcup will momentarily lower the audio volume and switch to ambient sound monitoring. Has volume, music player transport, call connect/disconnect, noise cancelling control, power on/off and voice assistant controls on the right earcup. Supports Google Assistant and other undisclosed digital voice assistants when used with Bluetooth connected devices that have those features. Has Bluetooth pairing memory for up to 2 source devices. The V-MODA app download for Apple and Android mobile devices shows the headphone battery level and can be used to adjust the ANC level, adjust the tonal balance of the earphones using tonal presets or user adjustable EQ, and update the headphone's firmware. Bluetooth connected Apple mobile devices using iOS Version 5 and above will show the battery level. This model comes with Detachable 54-inch long standard audio cable, USB-A to USB-C charging cable, mini-plug-to-airplane-jack adapter, carrying case, carabiner clip. Free V-Moda app download for Apple and Android mobile devices.
Sound quality:We found the M-200 ANC delivers sound quality that falls in the fair range - meaning that it has sonic shortcomings that leave a lot to be desired when listening to music but don't rule it out for dialog and communication and excellent active noise reduction. With the noise cancelling mode engaged and the V-Moda Headphone Editor app EQ setting set to off and Noise cancelling set to maximum (as received state of the headphone) the bass (as in bass drums, bass guitars, stand-up bass, etc.) has decent impact, goes fairly deep, is a bit subdued and somewhat boomy. The midrange (voices, guitars, horns, etc.) is telephone-like, grainy, hazy, constricted and somewhat congested (think sonic traffic jam), and gets more and more harsh as the volume increases. The treble (cymbals, the upper range of violins, etc.) is fairly extended, but is somewhat smeared and subdued. The sound also has little sense of liveliness and is somewhat open--sound-wise it almost seems like you don't have anything plugging up your ears and it only does a so-so job of recovering room ambience. Mixed character- warmish bass with neutral midrange and treble. The overall sound can be summarized as somewhat boomy, constricted, telephone-like and harsh at higher volume levels. The EQ settings of the app do have a noticeable effect on the sound of these headphones. Noise Canceling: Excellent noise reduction across the entire frequency range with the low frequencies reduced the most. A very faint rushing sound can be heard in very quiet environments when there is no audio program material to mask it.
Comfort and Fit:We found that these headphones produce a sense of moderate pressure around the ears.
The pads might feel hot and/or sticky after prolonged use.
Large
Users with larger heads might find that the headband presses uncomfortably on the top of the head. Users with larger ears might find that the over-the-ear fit of the ear pads feel cramped, or that the ear pads sit on, rather than around their ears.
Stability
Some users may find that when they lean far forward the headphones feel unstable and shift forward.
Other noise
When wearing this model while walking the vibrations from each foot step may be faintly heard through the headphones, and the sound of the audio cable rubbing on clothing may be heard through the headphones.
Clearances
Clearances are tight between the earcups and the "Y" support that holds them to the headband; it's possible to pinch a finger when handling the headphones in general.
