Design and features:This Bluetooth wireless noise-canceling portable ear-insert model provides very good sound and excellent active noise reduction. Although it lacks active noise reduction, the ear plug-like design helps to reduce both outside noise and sound leaking out into your environment. The MOMENTUM True Wireless 4 has a volume control plus an integrated microphone and player function controls. Additional features include - Either earphone can be used alone for one ear monitoring of Bluetooth streamed audio and telephone communications. Charging/carrying case has built-in rechargeable battery that the manufacturer claims can be used to recharge the earphone batteries for an additional 23 hrs. of playtime for a total of 30 hrs. Manufacturer claims dust and water resistance (IP54). Has touch controls for music player transport, call connect/disconnect, ambient noise/noise cancellation/ on/off, digital voice assistant activation, and Bluetooth volume control. Has power on/off, Bluetooth pairing, battery status, and other voice announcements. Supports Apple Siri and Google Assistant digital voice assistants when it is used with Bluetooth devices that have those capabilities. Has quick charge feature: 8 min of charging will provide 1 hour of playtime. Qi wireless charging compatible. Bluetooth connected Apple mobile devices using iOS Version 5 and above will show the battery level. Sennheiser Smart Control app download for Apple or Android mobile devices can be used to change the sound of the earphones, show battery level, change various settings such as deactivation the auto pause feature, choose between pausing and not pausing audio when the monitor function is activated, choose between voice announcements and alert tones, and update the earphone's firmware.
Sound quality:We found the MOMENTUM True Wireless 4 delivers sound quality that falls in the very good range - it reproduces music and voice very well although it does have some noticeable sonic quirks and excellent active noise reduction. With the noise canceling mode engaged and the Sennheiser Smart Control app EQ set to flat (as received state of the earphone) the bass (as in bass drums, bass guitars, stand-up bass, etc.) has good impact and goes deep, but is bit prominent and boomy. The midrange (voices, guitars, horns, etc.) is fairly even, but is a bit grainy and hazy. Low and Mid treble is somewhat subdued and upper treble (cymbals, the upper range of violins, etc.) is extended, but is bit prominent, sizzly (sounds that should have a delicate shimmer have a sound reminiscent of bacon frying), and smeared. The sound also has a good sense of liveliness and is somewhat open--sound-wise it almost seems like you don't have anything plugging up your ears and does a good job of recovering room ambience. Mixed character - warmish bass with neutral midrange and treble. The overall sound can best be summarized as somewhat bassy, grainy, and sizzly. The tone settings of the app do have a noticeable effect on the sound of these earphones. Noise Canceling: Excellent noise reduction across the entire frequency range with the low frequencies reduced the most. Orientation changes the noise reduction characteristic - when the noise is coming from directly in front more high-frequency noise can be heard. A very faint rushing noise can be heard when there is no audio program to drown it out.
Comfort and Fit:We found this is a hybrid ear insert/ear bud design - the earpieces seal the ear canals but they don't insert into the ear canals as far as typical ear insert models, and they are supported by ear bowls like a ear bud model rather than the ear canals.
Small
Users with small ear bowls might find that the earphone body feels a bulky in their ear bowl and that they stick out too far and feel like they may lever out of place and are mostly held in place by the section of the earphone that is inserted in the ear canal and bowl support, but that they will generally stay in place during casual use and are very stable even with vigorous head movement .
Medium
Users with medium to large ear bowls will probably find that they stay in place with no problem, and that the ear bowl supports make the ear pieces very stable even with vigorous head movement .
Incidental contact with the touch controls can cause unintentional volume level changes, playing, pausing, track skipping, or ambient sound monitoring.
