Design and features:This model has right ear cup has touch controls for music player transport, call connect/disconnect, digital voice assistant activation, and Bluetooth volume, as well as noise cancellation high/low/off/ambient sound monitoring, and bass normal/boost button controls. The headphones pause audio when removed from ears and resume audio when placed back on ears. It also supports unspecified digital voice assistants when used with Bluetooth devices that have those features.
Sound quality:We found the Wireless Over-Ear Headphones With Active Noise Canceling/Ambient Sound delivers very good active noise reduction, but the sound quality that falls in the mediocre range - meaning that it has sonic shortcomings that leave a lot to be desired when listening to music but don't rule it out for dialog and communication. The overall sound can be summarized as plasticky, thin and somewhat harsh. With the noise cancelling mode engaged and set to high and the bass control set to normal, the bass (as in bass drums, bass guitars, stand-up bass, etc.) is subdued, has so-so impact, and doesn't go deep. The midrange (voices, guitars, horns, etc.) is somewhat grainy, hazy, congested (think sonic traffic jam) , has a very noticeable plastic resonance that gives it a nasal quality. The treble (cymbals, the upper range of violins, etc.) is extended, but is somewhat smeared, sizzly (sounds that should have a delicate shimmer have a sound reminiscent of bacon frying), and prominent. While the sound has a good sense of liveliness, it is somewhat closed (sound-wise it's fairly obvious you have something plugging your ears) and it only does a so-so job of recovering room ambience from recordings. This model provides very good noise reduction, the noise reduction is fairly even across most of the frequency range with low frequencies reduced the most. A faint hiss can be heard when there is no audio program to drown it out.
Comfort and Fit:We found that these headphones produce a sense of moderate pressure around the ears. As typical of over-ear models the ear pads might feel hot and/or sticky after prolonged use.
Medium
Users with medium to large heads might find that the headband does not have enough adjustment range to allow the ear cups to rest properly over the ears and/or that the headband presses uncomfortably on the top of the head.
Large
Users with larger ears might find that the over-the-ear fit of the ear pads feel cramped, or that the ear pads sit on, rather than around their ears; in that case the less-than-ideal fit around the ears might interfere with the ear pad seal and reduce the bass response and/or noise reduction capabilities of the headphone.
Incidental contact with the touch controls on the left/right/either ear cup can cause unintentional playing, pausing, or track skipping.
Stability
Some users may find that when they lean far forward the headphones feel unstable and shift forward.
Other noise
When wearing this model while walking the muffled vibrations from each foot step can be heard slightly through the headphones regardless of whether or not the headphones are in noise cancelling mode.
When the audio cord is used the sound of it rubbing on clothing may be faintly heard through the headphones.
