    Detailed Test Results

    Design and features:
This wired portable earbud models open-air design doesn't muffle outside sounds so you'll be able to hear that door bell ring, train announcement, or car horn when you are wearing the headphones.

    Additional features:
Has integrated volume control, microphone, and call connect/disconnect control.

    Sound quality:
We found the Ear (open) delivers sound quality that falls in the very good range - it reproduces music and voice very well although it does have some noticeable sonic quirks.

    Audio Details:
With the Nothing X Equalizer set to Simple and Balanced (as received state of the earphone) the bass (as in bass drums, bass guitars, stand-up bass, etc.) has good impact and goes fairly deep but is a bit prominent and boomy.

The midrange (voices, guitars, horns, etc.) is somewhat grainy and a bit hazy and congested (think sonic traffic jam) and a touch sibilant and thin.

Depending on fit the treble (cymbals, the upper range of violins, etc.) can be extended but is somewhat sizzly (sounds that should have a delicate shimmer have a sound reminiscent of bacon frying), smeared and a bit prominent.

It has an open sound, but that's because it's not covering your ears, not because the audio sounds open and does a decent job of recovering room ambience in the mid- to upper midrange, but is so-so elsewhere. Good dynamics. Mixed character warmish bass and coolish midrange and treble.

The overall sound can be summarized as somewhat grainy, a bit bassy and sizzly. The tone settings of the app do have a noticeable effect on the sound of these earphones.

    Comfort and Fit:

There is a sense of light pressure on the ears.

    Small

Users with small sized ears may find that ear hooks feel a bit bulky behind the ears, that this model stays in place with no problems for casual use, and are stable during fairly vigorous head movement.

    Medium

Users with medium sized ears may find that ear hooks feel unobtrusive behind the ears, that this model stays in place with no problems for casual use, and are stable during fairly vigorous head movement.

    Large

Users with large sized ears may find that ear hooks feel a bit bulky behind the ears, that this model stays in place with no problems for casual use and that they are stable during vigorous head movement.
