    Detailed Test Results

    Design and features:
This Bluetooth wireless portable open-ear model provides very good sound. Its open-air design doesn't muffle outside sounds so you'll be able to hear that door bell ring, train announcement, or car horn when you are wearing the headphones. The Soundgear Sense has a volume control plus an integrated microphone and player function controls.?? and integrated call connect/disconnect controls. Additional features include - Either earphone can be used alone for one ear monitoring of Bluetooth streamed audio and telephone communications. Charging/carrying case has built-in rechargeable battery that the manufacturer claims can be used to recharge the earphone batteries for an additional 18 hrs. of playtime for a total of 24 hrs. Manufacturer claims dust and water resistance (IP54). Has touch controls for music player transport, call connect/disconnect, digital voice assistant activation, and Bluetooth volume control. Has power on/off, Bluetooth pairing, battery status, and other voice announcements. Supports Google Fast Pair (alternate to traditional Bluetooth pairing method for Android mobile devices) and Microsoft Swift Pair (alternate to traditional Bluetooth pairing method for Windows PCs). Supports Apple Siri, BIXBY and other digital voice assistants when used with Bluetooth devices that have those capabilities and that, if needed, have the appropriate apps installed. Has multi-point feature (supports simultaneous connection of two Bluetooth source devices). Has quick charge feature: 15 min of charging will provide 4 hours of playtime. Bluetooth connected Apple mobile devices using iOS Version 5 and above will show the battery level. JBL Headphones app download for Apple and Android mobile devices can be used to show battery level, customize touch controls to swap volume control for one of the other controls, adjust the earphone's tonal balance, create custom or use pre-made EQ presets, disable voice prompts, and update the earphone's firmware. App also can enable low latency mode to provide better audio syncing performance when used with video sources and has a "Find My Buds" function that can be used to locate the earphones if they are misplaced. Bluetooth connected Apple mobile devices using iOS Version 5 and above will show the battery level.

    Sound quality:
We found the Soundgear Sense delivers sound quality that falls in the very good range - it reproduces music and voice very well although it does have some noticeable sonic quirks. With the JBL Headphone app EQ set to off the bass (as in bass drums, bass guitars, stand-up bass, etc.) has decent impact, but is a bit prominent and boomy and doesn't go deep. The midrange (voices, guitars, horns, etc.) is a bit grainy, somewhat hazy and congested (think sonic traffic jam) and touch plasticky. The treble (cymbals, the upper range of violins, etc.) is extended but is somewhat smeared and a bit prominent and sizzly (sounds that should have a delicate shimmer have a sound reminiscent of bacon frying). Somewhat open sounding and does a decent job of recovering room ambience. Decent dynamics. Mixed character; neutral bass and midrange, and coolish treble which may depends on positioning on ear. The overall sound can be summarized as somewhat hazy and congested and a bit grainy. The tone settings of the app do have a noticeable effect on the sound of these earphones.

    Comfort and Fit:

We found that these earphones produce a sense of light pressure on the ears.
