Design and features:This wired portable earbud models non-isolating design doesn't muffle outside sounds so you'll be able to hear that door bell ring, train announcement, or car horn when you are wearing these earphones.
Additional features:Has integrated volume control, microphone, and call connect/disconnect control.
Sound quality:We found the R1 Open-ear True Wireless Earbuds delivers sound quality that falls in the very good range - it reproduces music and voice very well although it does have some noticeable sonic quirks.
Audio Details:With the mode set to Classic (default setting) in the Edifier ConneX app, the
bass (as in bass drums, bass guitars, stand-up bass, etc.) has decent impact but deep bass is lacking and is a bit boomy.
The
midrange (voices, guitars, horns, etc.) is even, but is a bit hazy, grainy and congested (think sonic traffic jam).
The
treble (cymbals, the upper range of violins, etc.) is extended, but is a touch prominent and sizzly (sounds that should have a delicate shimmer have a sound reminiscent of bacon frying).
The sound also has a good sense of liveliness and it has an open sound, but that's because it's not covering your ears, not because the audio sounds open and does a decent job of recovering room ambience. Coolish character.
The overall sound can best be summarized as a bit hazy and grainy and a touch sizzly. The different mode settings of the app have a noticeable effect on the sound of these earphones.
Comfort and Fit:These earphones have a unique design - they have a clip that goes around the lower part of the outer ear near the lobe which holds the earphone against the back of the earbowl , with the sound being directed toward the ear canal. As such they do not produce any pressure in the ear canal, but the user may have to fiddle a bit to get them into place and to find the position that provides the best sound quality.
Small
Users with smaller ears will probably find that this model stays in place with no problems for casual use, that they are very stable even during vigorous head movement, and many may find that they are unobtrusive so it may be easy to forget they are being worn.
Medium
Users with medium sized ears will probably find that this model stays in place with no problems for casual use, that they are very stable even during vigorous head movement, and many may find that they are unobtrusive so it's easy to forget they are being worn . The contact point after a period of time can be noticeable and may be uncomfortable.
Large
Users with larger ears will probably find that this model stays in place with no problems for casual use and that they are stable even during fairly vigorous head movement, but some may find that this model squeezes their outer ear and/or puts pressure on the back of the ears where the clip presses, and if it does it may be more noticeable when the user turns their head.
