Design and features:This Bluetooth, noise-canceling, portable ear-insert model's ear plug-like design and electronic noise canceling feature reduce both outside noise and sound leaking out into your environment.
Additional features:Has integrated volume control, microphone, and call connect/disconnect control. Either earphone can be used alone for one ear monitoring of Bluetooth streamed audio and telephone communications.
Sound quality:We found the Powerbeats Pro 2 delivers sound quality that falls in the very good range - it reproduces music and voice very well although it does have some noticeable sonic quirks and has excellent active noise reduction.
Audio Details: With the noise canceling mode engaged the
bass (as in bass drums, bass guitars, stand-up bass, etc.) has good impact and goes fairly deep, but is a touch prominent and a bit boomy.
The
midrange (voices, guitars, horns, etc.) is fairly even, but is a somewhat grainy and a bit hazy.
The
treble (cymbals, the upper range of violins, etc.) is fairly extended but is a bit prominent, sizzly (sounds that should have a delicate shimmer have a sound reminiscent of bacon frying) and smeared.
While the sound has a good sense of liveliness, it is somewhat closed (sound-wise it's fairly obvious you have something plugging your ears) and does a decent job of recovering room ambience.
The overall sound can be summarized as a bit bassy and sizzly and somewhat grainy. Warmish bass with neutral midrange and coolish treble character.
Noise Canceling: Excellent noise reduction across the entire frequency range with the low frequencies reduced the most. Orientation changes the noise reduction characteristic - when the noise is coming from the front a bit more high frequency noise can be heard. A very faint rushing noise is audible when there is no audio program present to mask it.
Comfort and Fit:There is a sense of pressure on the ears.
Some may feel that the ear hooks are a bit finicky when putting on the earbuds. Due to its design some users may find they have to notably fiddle with the ear hooks to get the headphones on.

Incidental contact with the touch controls can cause unintentional playing and pausing and noise canceling.
