    Detailed Test Results

    Design and features:
This Bluetooth wireless noise canceling portable ear-insert model provides very good sound and excellent active noise reduction. Its ear plug-like design and electronic noise canceling feature reduce both outside noise and sound leaking out into your environment. The headphones work with or without the noise canceling feature being turned on. You can use the noise-canceling feature without listening to music. The Evo has a volume control plus an integrated microphone and player function controls. Additional features include - Either earpiece can be used alone for one ear monitoring of Bluetooth streamed audio and telephone communications. Charging/carrying case has built-in rechargeable battery that the manufacturer claims can be used to recharge the earphone batteries for an additional 20 hrs. of listening time for a total of 28 hrs. (ANC off) or an additional 14.5 hrs. of listening time for a total of 20 hrs. (ANC on). Can be recharged via USB cable or with optional wireless charging accessories. Manufacturer claims water resistance (IPX4). Has three noise cancellation modes that can be selected using the 1More Music app - ANC adaptive, strong, mild, and wind noise resistant modes. The headphone noise cancellation control default setting switches between ANC Strong, ambient sound monitor (Pass-through), and ANC off modes by touch control on either earbud; the default settings can be customized using the app to switch between the different noise cancelling and the ambient sound monitoring options. Has touch controls, defaults are music player play/pause, communications call connect/disconnect, Noise cancelling/ambient sound monitoring control, and voice control activation. Supports voice control when used with Bluetooth connected devices that have those features. Has Google Fast Pair, and can be connected to two devices simultaneously. Automatically pauses audio when one earphone is taken out of ear and resumes when both are put back. Has quick charge feature: 15 min of charging will provide 4 hrs. of playtime. Bluetooth connected Apple mobile devices using iOS Version 5 and above will show the battery level. Supports Hi-Res audio wireless. Free 1More Music app download for Apple and Android devices can be used to disable the auto pause feature, customize the headphone touch control functions (play/pause and/or voice control can be swapped for next track, previous track, volume up, and volume down functions), check battery levels, update firmware, and run a built-in headphone burn in audio file. Personalized audio EQ profiles can be created and stored with the SoundID feature using the 1More Music app. The Evo comes with 5 pairs of ear pieces in various sizes, USB-A to USB-C connector charging cable, charging cradle/recharger battery/carrying case, user guide.

    Sound quality:
We found the Evo delivers sound quality that falls in the very good range - it reproduces music and voice very well although it does have some noticeable sonic quirks and excellent active noise reduction. With the noise cancelling mode engaged and set to "Strong" and the preset EQ set to "Studio" in the 1More app (default mode) the bass (as in bass drums, bass guitars, stand-up bass, etc.) has good impact and goes fairly deep but is a bit prominent and boomy, and may sound a bit distorted (there was a faint warbling - sounds like it is underwater) with some program material. The midrange (voices, guitars, horns, etc.) is fairly even, somewhat grainy, a bit hazy and congested (think sonic traffic jam), and a touch etched (a bit more sharply outlined then it should be). The treble (cymbals, the upper range of violins, etc.) is extended, but is somewhat prominent and sizzly (sounds that should have a delicate shimmer have a sound reminiscent of bacon frying) , and a bit smeared. The sound also has a good sense of liveliness and is open--sound-wise it seems like you don't have anything plugging up your ears and does a decent job of recovering room ambience. Mixed character - warmish bass with neutral midrange and treble. The overall sound can be summarized as a bit bassy and somewhat grainy. The EQ settings of the app do have a noticeable effect on the sound of these earphones. Noise Canceling: Excellent noise reduction across the entire frequency range with the low frequencies reduced the most. Orientation changes the noise reduction characteristic - when the noise is coming from the front more high-frequency noise can be heard. A very faint rushing noise can be heard when there is no audio program to drown it out.

    Comfort and Fit:

As typical of in-ear models they produce a sense of pressure in the ear canal opening might be uncomfortable for some.

    Small

Users with small earbowls might find that the earphone body feels a bit bulky in their earbowl and that they stick out too far, but that they will stay in place during casual use are stable during fairly vigorous head movement.

    Medium/Large

Users with medium and larger sized ear bowls will probably find that this model stays in place with no problems for casual use and that they are stable even during vigorous head movement.
