Best Deals on the iPhone 14, 14 Plus, 14 Pro, and 14 Pro Max

Apple’s new smartphones come with premium prices, but here's how to get one for $100 or less

Looking for a deal on an iPhone 14? Apple’s new flagship phones are available for preorder starting Friday, Sept. 9, and wireless carriers are offering special incentives for new and existing customers.

The iPhone 14 (measuring 6.1 inches diagonally) and iPhone 14 Plus (6.7 inches) start at $799 and $899, respectively, with 128 gigabytes of storage. The iPhone 14 Pro (6.1 inches) and iPhone 14 Pro Max (6.7 inches) start at $999 and $1,099, respectively, also with 128GB of storage.

    More on Smartphones

Those are hefty sums, but they match the introductory prices for last year’s iPhone 13 models. They’re also competitive with the Samsung Galaxy S22 lineup that debuted in the spring.

All four iPhones received camera upgrades, but the Pro models got most of the goodies. That includes Apple’s new A16 chip, a larger 48-megapixel main rear camera, and an always-on display to show widgets on the lock screen. Apple also replaced the notch at the top of the front screen with what it calls the Dynamic Island, a pill-shaped cutout that displays notifications and can be tapped or swiped to, say, pause a song.

To get you to preorder (and maybe switch providers) before the on-sale date—Sept. 16 for the iPhone 14, 14 Pro, and 14 Pro Max, and Oct. 7 for the all-new 14 Plus—all three major wireless carriers are offering trade-in deals.

Note that they require you to have good credit, and the trade-in phone needs to be in good condition.

These offers won’t last long, so don’t wait to place your order.

    Apple Deals

Apple doesn’t have any iPhone 14-specific deals. But if you trade in an eligible device, you can get $40 to $720 in credit toward a new phone. You need to answer a few questions on Apple’s site to see what your old phone is worth.

Apple Card owners can get 3 percent cash back on iPhone and other Apple Store purchases.

    Wireless Carrier Deals

    AT&T
AT&T is offering new and existing Unlimited plan customers up to $1,000 off the purchase price with an eligible trade-in. That essentially gets you an iPhone 14, 14 Plus, or 14 Pro for free. An iPhone 14 Pro Max would cost $99.

Devices eligible for the $1,000 credit include the iPhone Pro Max from the 12 or 13 series; Samsung Galaxy S20+, S20 Ultra, Note20 series model, S21 series model, S22 series model, and the Fold and Flip phones; Google Pixel 6 Pro; and OnePlus 10 Pro.

The deal comes in the form of 36 monthly bill credits that start within three months of the trade-in.

If your trade-in is valued at $130 to $229, AT&T will give you up to $800 in bill credits. And if your phone is worth $35 to $129, you get up to $350 in credits.

    T-Mobile
T-Mobile is offering new and existing customers on the Magenta Max plan up to $1,000 off any iPhone 14 series phone with an eligible trade-in, which essentially means a free iPhone 14, 14 Plus, or 14 Pro. As with AT&T, the 14 Pro Max costs $99.

If you’re on another T-Mobile plan, the carrier will give you up to $500 off the purchase price.

The carrier doesn’t currently list which phones are eligible for the full discount. To find out what your phone is worth, you need to go to T-Mobile’s online store, click on the iPhone you’re interested in, and enter your device information in the trade-in wizard.

Looking to pick up iPhones for yourself and a family member? T-Mobile has a buy-one-get-one-free offer for the iPhone 14, too.

All deals provide the discount via 24 monthly bill credits.

    Verizon
Verizon is offering new customers who sign up for its Unlimited plan up to $1,000 off the price of the phone with an eligible trade in. The company will also throw in a $200 eCard.

Those already enrolled in Verizon’s Unlimited plan can get up to $800 off with an eligible trade-in.

To see how much your old phone is worth, head to Verizon’s store, select the phone you’re interested in, and enter the info requested in the trade-in wizard.

The company is also offering 25 percent off Apple MagSafe chargers, $100 off AirPods Max headphones, and 20 percent off select cases and screen protectors for iPhone 14 models.
