PICTURE QUALITY. This model, like all of the other models in our Ratings, had excellent picture quality when playing 4K UHD and Blu-ray discs. It did very well with standard DVDs, displaying the best detail possible.
EASE OF USE. We found the model to be easy to use, overall. Operating the player from its front panel was easy. The remote was fairly easy to use. Its fit to the hand is excellent and well balanced and has a notch. It lacks direct access button(s) for streaming services. The onscreen menu was highly intuitive and easy to use.
SPEED. With its quick-start feature enabled, the startup time became 8 seconds. It had a faster Blu-ray load time than many other models of around 13 seconds. The DVD load time was fast -- 10 seconds -- better than many other models. The eject time was 4 seconds, faster than many other models.
INTERNET FEATURES. At the time of testing the firmware version was BD.39338.80329.C, which included these streaming services: Netflix, Youtube.
CONTROLS AND CONNECTIVITY. The player has a lot of useful features. It has built-in Wi-Fi for wirelessly connecting to a home network, handy if you don't have a nearby Ethernet jack. The player is DLNA certified, so you can access digital photos, videos, and music stored on a PC, phone, tablet, or other device connected to your home network.

If your Blu-ray player's firmware differs from the one shown you either have an older or a newer version of firmware. Manufacturers may periodically upgrade the Blu-ray player's firmware to enhance operation, fix bugs, or add features. Firmware upgrades are downloadable directly to your Blu-ray player via a wired or wireless network (if internet capable), USB port, or memory card, depending on your Blu-ray player's capability. You can check your Blu-ray player's firmware version, or upgrade to the latest firmware by pressing the menu button on your remote and navigating to the appropriate submenu, typically under Settings. The LG UBK90 is a 3D-capable Blu-ray player with native 4K UHD video for use with an Ultra HD TV. This model--which comes with built-in Wi-Fi for wireless connection to your home network--has access to online content, including streaming movies and TV shows from Netflix and Youtube.

The UBK90 has two HDMI outputs—one for video to the TV, the other for audio to a soundbar, home theater system, etc. Its DLNA certification enables you to view media stored on a compatible computer, phone, or other mobile device also connected to your home network.

This Blu-ray player measures 0.7 inches high by 6.7 inches wide by 3.2 inches deep.
