Talking Cars 352: Driving the 2022 BMW 230i

Plus, we discuss driver monitoring and highway hypnosis

Main theme: We share our first driving impressions of the 2022 BMW 230i coupe. To address some potential confusion among the two 2 Series platforms, we discuss how this model, with its rear-drive architecture and coupe body style, differs from the front-drive-based four-door BMW 228i Gran Coupe that we recently tested. Does this BMW 230i perform more as a “driver’s car”? And does the coupe styling compromise other aspects of the car?

Audience question: Will the rise of direct driver monitoring systems prevent drivers from being able to scan their surroundings as a means to stay alert and safe and to fight highway hypnosis?
