Ford is recalling over 240,000 Ford Explorer and Lincoln Aviator SUVs from the 2020 and 2021 model years because their seat belts may not have been installed correctly. This could increase the risk of injury to occupants in a crash.

    MORE ON car RECALLS

The recalled vehicles might have seat belts that were not properly anchored. In documents provided to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the automaker says the problem may be due to an assembly issue at the factory where the seats were assembled. Drivers may notice a rattling or squeaking noise in the cabin of the vehicle if bolts within the seat belt assembly are loose.

Ford and Lincoln dealerships will inspect and, if necessary, replace impacted components. As with all recall repairs, the fix will be free of charge.
