Ford Edge and Lincoln MKX SUVs Recalled to Fix Brake Hoses

Ford is recalling nearly half a million 2015-2018 Ford Edge and 2016-2018 Lincoln MKX SUVs to fix brake hoses that could rupture and leak, making it harder to stop the vehicle.

    MORE ON CAR RECALLS

The problem occurs when a flexible brake hose, called a jounce hose, fails and leaks. In addition to longer stopping distances, drivers may also notice that they have to press the brake pedal harder and that a brake warning light may light up on the dashboard.

Ford and Lincoln are still working on a fix for the issue and will send owners a second letter when it is available. The hoses on newer Edge and MKX models not included in the recall are made of a different material.

Ford told the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration that there have been 64 warranty claims, three field reports, 16 customer complaints, and no crashes or injuries related to this issue.

The recall comes after a NHTSA investigation and two prior recalls for similar issues in 2020 and 2023.

Ford and Lincoln Brake Recall Details

The problem: Brake jounce hoses may fail prematurely, leading to a fluid leak and reduced braking performance.

The fix: Ford is still working on a fix for the problem and will send a letter to owners as soon as it is available. The automaker says it should be by April 2026.

How to contact the manufacturer: Owners may contact Ford at 866-436-7332.

NHTSA campaign number: 25V544. Ford’s own number for this recall is 25S87.
