Talking Cars 355: Highlights From the 2022 New York Auto Show

We discuss the latest electric vehicles and performance machines

Main theme: This week is a win-win for Talking Cars, because not only are we coming to you from the New York International Auto Show—being held for the first time in a couple of years—but also we were there in person! We share highlights from the show and how fewer attendees—both visitors and manufacturers—changed the feel of the show.

We also discuss the prevalence of electric vehicle (EV) offerings, with EVs featured in nearly every booth, and the dichotomy of performance vehicles.

Plus, we touch on how the show provided a clear feel for embracing Mother Earth in two ways. The first was embracing all that she has to offer, with nearly every booth providing an outdoorsy feel that encouraged taking time to enjoy nature. And second, with the role of EVs in ensuring there will still be plenty of nature’s bounty to enjoy.

And we discuss new electric vehicles from a number of manufacturers, including the new Chevrolet Silverado EV, the long-awaited Volkswagen ID.Buzz van, Subaru’s Solterra developed in conjunction with Toyota and its sister vehicle the bZ4X, Nissan’s Ariya, and the VinFast VF SUVs.
