Best Portable Washing Machines

Portable washers come in different capacity sizes, can drain right into your sink, and some can even be installed as a permanent washer in a home with cold- and hot-water supplies. We wanted to find out if these washers could clean clothing well, whether they are easy to use, and how portable they really are.

Because we had trouble finding a sink faucet that could accommodate all five models, they all required additional hoses to reach our water supply and to drain. Here’s what we found. (Unless otherwise noted, all the wash cycles used for stain removal testing were programmed to normal load size and cold-water settings.)
