Over the past few years, I’ve worked on curbing my seltzer addiction, which started during a nausea-filled pregnancy. But I still find myself grabbing a LaCroix out of the fridge almost every evening, savoring the flavor and the CO₂-induced fizz.

Lately, seltzer machines of all kinds have landed on the market, promising the delight of seltzer made at home with tap or filtered water. The Ninja Thirsti Sparkling & Still Drink System allows you to create drinks of all kinds with infused flavors. But does its $180 price (we purchased ours on sale for $150) offset the cost of buying seltzer?

How does the Ninja Thirsti Sparkling & Still Drink System work?

More on Soda Makers & Sparkling Water

The Ninja Thirsti System turns tap or filtered water into carbonated soda by applying CO₂ from an included canister, then adding optional flavoring from its pouches. You can choose from two levels of flavor or opt to combine two. And you can choose between still water or three levels of fizz intensity. The Thirsti System allows you to make drinks from 6 ounces to 24 ounces.

To get the best results, Thirsti suggests filling up its 48-ounce water reservoir, then chilling the water for 5 to 7 hours. (You can also add ice to the water if you don’t have time to chill it for that long.) The system doesn’t include a Ninja Thirsti Travel Bottle, but we ordered one separately for evaluation.
