Half a Million Govee Electric Space Heaters Recalled Due to Fire and Burn Risks
The recalled models did not meet a voluntary safety standard, the CPSC says
About 560,000 GoveeLife and Govee Smart electric space heaters have been recalled because they can overheat, posing fire and burn risks.
The number includes 512,500 heaters sold in the U.S. and 48,600 sold in Canada. According to the Consumer Product Safety Commission, GoveeLife and Govee have received more than 100 reports of overheating, including seven fires and one minor burn injury.
The CPSC says tests revealed that the recalled space heaters did not comply with the voluntary industry safety standard ANSI/UL 1278, posing an overheating and fire risk from wireless control features.
