About

Uses two slugs in each handle to vary weight by 2.5 pounds per slug. Also available in a 5-pound-step version. What we liked: Dumbbells are automatically balanced lengthwise, and the set is expandable to 90 pounds for those who need extra weight. Compact at lighter weights, comfortable when resting on thighs during some bench exercises, and has a good hand grip. But: Difficult to do two-handed exercises with one dumbbell, small adjustments are harder to apply using the slugs, step changes to weight are not consistent for the entire range of weights. The offset slugs make the dumbbells want to twist about the handle axis, requiring a very firm grip and locking of the wrist.
