Sound quality: Solis's SO-6000 had Good overall sound quality - this model reproduces music and dialog reasonably well despite the obvious shortcomings in its sound. Bass has good impact and goes fairly deep but is somewhat prominent and a bit boomy. Midrange is even, but is somewhat grainy and a bit hazy. Treble is extended, but is a bit prominent, smeared and sizzly. Does a so-so job of recovering room ambience, sounds a bit congested. There is no significant difference between Bluetooth, Aux and WiFi sound quality. It provides a decent volume level in a medium sized room.
Ease of use: We found the Solis SO-6000 ease of use to be very good overall. Bluetooth pairing requires a press of the Bluetooth source button, then selection of unit from the Bluetooth selection list on source device; unit provides an obvious indication that the unit is in pairing mode as well as when pairing has actually occurred. WiFi Setup requires downloading the Google Home app to a mobile device; easy and intuitive - instructions are provided in the app, may or may not involve inputting Wi-Fi network password. Volume controls are good contrast, there is nothing to indicate that it is a volume control except + and - symbols, no index markings and there is no indication when you reach the max setting. Source selection is a combination of Chrome casting from a 3rd party app for WiFi streaming, use of a labeled multi-function button for Bluetooth, and plug and unplug for the aux input. The most recent source selection operation (casting, button selection, or plug in) takes priority. Aux source selection is cumbersome - it has to be re-plugged in to take priority and the connection is on the back of the unit and is hard to access without shifting around the speaker in some way.
