Sound quality: JBL's GO 4 had mediocre overall sound quality - although it has some noticeable sonic quirks, this model reproduces music and dialog very well. What little bass there is has little impact is subdued and deep bass is lacking. Midrange is grainy, somewhat hazy and a bit thin and touch sibilant. Treble is fairly extended but is smeared, sizzly and dry, and lower and mid treble is somewhat subdued. Does a so-so job of recovering room ambience and is somewhat congested. The speaker is monophonic. Provides a decent volume level in a small sized room and is best suited for near field listening, at its loudest volume levels, the sound becomes strained.
