Sound quality: Billboard's BB742 had Fair overall sound quality. What little bass there is has little impact is subdued and deep bass is lacking. Midrange is thin, hazy, grainy, and has an obvious plastic resonance. Treble lacks extension, is somewhat smeared, and depending on program material may sound somewhat subdued and/or slightly sizzly. Doesn't do a good job recovering room ambience, and is congested. Because of the design, the only orientation that provides the most even frequency balance is standing upright with the connectors in the back. In that position, the left channel is at the top and the right channel is at the bottom of the speaker. In that position when listening from a close distance, you can hear the left channel at the top and the right channel at the bottom, but from further away you lose any sense of stereo separation. If the speaker is laid on its side, there is a slight sense of stereo separation, but only if you are fairly close to the speaker. There was no significant difference in sound quality between Bluetooth and Aux inputs. Provides a decent volume level in a small sized room.
