Sound quality: Altec Lansing's HydraMini (IMW1000) had Fair overall sound quality - this model has sonic shortcomings that leave a lot to be desired when listening to music but don't rule it out for dialog. What little bass there is has little impact, is subdued and deep bass is lacking. Midrange is somewhat grainy and thin, and a bit etched. Treble is fairly extended but is somewhat smeared and sizzly. It doesn't do a good job of recovering room ambience, and sounds somewhat congested. The speaker is monophonic. Provides a decent volume level in a small sized room, sounds strained at higher volumes, is best suited for near field listening.
