Sound quality: Airpulse's A80 had very good overall sound quality - although it has some noticeable sonic quirks, this model reproduces music and dialog very well. Bass has good impact and goes deep, but is a touch prominent and a bit boomy. Midrange is fairly even, but is somewhat grainy, a bit hazy, and can sound a touch muffled. Treble is fairly extended, but is a bit smeared and the mid treble is a bit subdued. Does a decent job of recovering room ambience, but sounds a bit congested. As a stereo pair its sound stage width and focus depends on how well it is placed. When it is well placed, there is good stereo separation and the sound field extends a bit above and to the sides of the speakers but lacks depth. No significant difference between Bluetooth, USB, Aux and Optical sound quality. Provides a decent volume level in a large sized room.
Ease of use: We found the Airpulse A80 ease of use to be very good overall. Wired setup: 5 Din Pin cable provided for left/right interconnect of speakers, simply plug in, no prep needed. Bluetooth setup:
