    Owner Reported Trouble Spots

The Reliability score is based on our latest subscriber survey of 2022 Toyota Tundra owners. The owner comments describe problems respondents experienced with this vehicle.

    Brakes

Premature pad/rotor wear, pulsation or vibration, antilock system, parking brake, master cylinder, calipers, squeaking, brake failure, regenerative braking.

    What Owners Say

    Squeaking

"Brakes squeak especially when in reverse since I purchased new. Dealer said company is aware of the problem but there is no solutions."

Anonymous, TX (2022 Toyota Tundra Limited 3.4-L V6 turbo)

"The squealing of the brakes started a few months after I purchased it. The only thing the dealer has said is that it seems to be an issue with the pads. The pads I have are the original pads and have lasted 65000 miles and are still working! But, there is this squealing that happens when the brakes are cold. Once the truck has travelled a few miles it stops."

Anonymous, TX (2022 Toyota Tundra TRD Pro 3.4-L V6 turbo)

    Engine Major

Engine rebuild or replacement, cylinder head, head gasket, turbocharger or supercharger, timing chain or belt.

    What Owners Say

    Engine rebuild or replacement

"The engine stopped and it was towed to the dealership. It took 19 days to get it back."

    Anonymous, WV (2022 Toyota Tundra SR5 3.4-L V6 turbo)
    Turbo or supercharger

"The left turbo went out and the indicator said to take it to dealer and they lent me a Tacoma for a month while Tundra was fixed."

    Anonymous, (2022 Toyota Tundra SR5 3.4-L V6 turbo)

    Noises/Leaks

Squeaks, rattles, wind noises, seals and/or weather stripping, air and water leaks.

    What Owners Say

    Squeaks or rattles

"The truck is loose as a goose. Center armrest shakes. Loose metal sounding under acceleration, loud metal vibration sounds when motorcycle nearby"

Anonymous A., FL (2022 Toyota Tundra Capstone 3.4-L V6 turbo)

"Rattling noises, under the truck like a wind plate cover. Step up side rails rubbing metal grinding"

Anonymous A., FL (2022 Toyota Tundra Capstone 3.4-L V6 turbo)

    Fuel System/Emissions

Sensors (O₂, or oxygen, sensor), emission-control devices (includes EGR), fuel-injection system, fuel gauge/sender, fuel pump, problems filling up the tank.

    What Owners Say

    Fuel gauge/sender

"On restarting sometime the fuel gauge would indicate a full tank when tank had not be filled."

    Anonymous, BC (2022 Toyota Tundra SR5 3.4-L V6 turbo)
    Other emissions/fuel system problem

"The truck was recalled for a problem with the fuel filler system. The filler neck is on the left side, the tank is on the right side. The hose that connects the two can droop and touch the exhaust system and melt and start a fire. I scheduled the repair, but when I came for my appointment, the dealer told me that the part was back-ordered. That was several months ago. I haven't heard from them since. Apparently it's not a problem until the hose melts and sets the truck on fire,"

Anonymous A., NV (2022 Toyota Tundra Limited 3.4-L V6 hybrid)

    Engine Minor

Accessory belts and pulleys, engine computer, engine mounts, engine knock or ping, fuel leaks, oil leaks.

    Anonymous A., TX (2022 Toyota Tundra SR5 3.4-L V6 turbo)

"The lag happens when the engine has been running only a short time and when I need to have power to 'get going.' Once warm, everything is fine."

Anonymous, TX (2022 Toyota Tundra TRD Pro 3.4-L V6 turbo)

    Exhaust

Muffler, pipes, catalytic converter, exhaust manifold, heat shields, leaks.

    What Owners Say

    Other/unsure

    "Several recalls"

    Anonymous A., GA (2022 Toyota Tundra 1794.0 3.4-L V6 hybrid)

"I keep kicking myself because I didnt pay any attention to back seat leg room. I bought it because all my other Toyotas had more than adequate room for full-sized adults, and didnt think about a potential difference. Other than that, it is a good and comfortable ride."

Anonymous A., OR (2022 Toyota Tundra TRD Pro 3.4-L V6 turbo)

    Paint/Trim

    Loose interior trim or moldings

"The panel that holds the seat controls on the driver's seat has broken three times. It is a design defect. Replaced twice under warranty, finally, the dealer told me Toyota would not pay for it to be replaced again. They have told me that Toyota was redesigning the part; it has been two years! Now I just drive around with the broken panel."

Anonymous A., NV (2022 Toyota Tundra Limited 3.4-L V6 hybrid)

"Molding around driver seat controls cracked. Dealer stated it was a large scale know issue"

    What Owners Say

    CV joint

"Driver side front CV joint snapped due to binding. The truck was lifted by the dealership but still had the factory CV axle. While backing up with a trailer the steering wheel was full lock and the axle was bound up. Warranty paid for the tow and the dealership discount yes the replacement TRD axles."
