    What Owners Say

    Seals and/or weather-stripping

"sometimes refuses to recognize the phone app and insists on seeing the key card. I throw the app away and reopen it and it works. problem used to occur after software updates, but that no longer seems to be the case; now it's just whenever the car doesn't feel like working."

    Suspension/Steering

Shocks or struts, ball joints, tie rods, wheel bearings, alignment, steering linkage (includes rack and pinion), power steering (pumps and hoses, leaks), wheel balance, springs or torsion bars, bushings, electronic or air suspension.

    What Owners Say

    Other steering/suspension problem

"The bolts that secure the passenger lower control arm unscrewed. I noticed a slight alignment issue a day or two before it completely unscrewed but figured Id just not noticed earlier. Then one day i heard a bang and was able to get home the half mile or so. Once I got home isolated the problem to lower control arm. The bolts were unscrewed, one completely and wedged between the bracket and the frame. The other was halfway out allowing it to flex. And knock on the frame. Fortunately I was close to home so no permanent damage occurred. Tesla originally quoted a 10 day timeline to repair the car using the app. I drove to the dealership and explained what happened and Cory showed how to request customer assistance to come tow the car immediately for repair. When the tow truck came the driver crashed into my Ridgeline damaging the tailgate. The 3rd party tow company provided out dated insurance info and refused to provide current data to me or their policy provider. I tried to coordinate with Tesla to get it resolved and they said it was that companies problem not theirs. I think it is their problem and responsibility because they sent them to my house. Ultimately the Tesla was repaired the same day. New calling and supposedly they torqued all the suspension bolts, but I have not way of knowing and i now struggle to fully trust the safety of the car. It has worked fine since. The Ridgeline took 4 months to finally get repaired. I had to use my insurance for the claim and the car has now fundamentally lost value that I was not and will not be compensated for because bought the Tesla. I have video of the accident if you want to see it."

Anonymous A., VA (2023 Tesla Model 3 Standard Electric)
    Power steering

"The power steering failed and made steering very difficult at low speeds. I put in a service request on the Tesla app and they responded immediately and asked if I can drive it to the service shop or if I needed roadside. I drove it in since it is only a few miles. They provided a loaner and replaced the steering rack and I picked it up and the steering went out again. I returned it to the shop and they gave me another loaner and said they would thoroughly review the computer codes. They tested it for five days and found something that needed updating. I have not had any problems since."

Anonymous, NJ (2023 Tesla Model 3 Standard Electric)
    Tire wear is uneven

"4 tire blowouts on 2 occasions from NYC potholes followed by disintegration of run-flats trying in to find safe places to pull over. No response either time from Tesla alarm button. Recovered by AAA emergency service. Car as configured not suited to NYC road condition. Sold to CarMax for $27000, a large loss."
