    Owner Reported Trouble Spots

The Reliability score is based on our latest subscriber survey of 2020 Honda Ridgeline owners. The owner comments describe problems respondents experienced with this vehicle.

    Electrical Accessories

Cruise control, clock, warning lights, body control module, keyless entry, wiper motor or washer, tire pressure monitor, interior or exterior lights, horn, gauges, 12V power plug, USB ports, alarm or security system, remote engine start, heated or cooled seats, heated steering wheel, headlights, automatic headlights, automatic wipers, wireless charging pad.

    What Owners Say

    Automatic high-beam headlights

"The automatic high beams turn on and off unexpectedly while in use at night. When approaching an on coming car with their headlights on, my brights flash on and off at them. It's seems as if the control circuit has no hysteresis. If you turn the headlights on manual, you can operate the bright beams fine, but then the headlights are not turned off automatically when the engine is turned off. Three different Honda dealers have looked at this and cannot fix it. Honda USA doesn't have any solutions when I speak with them. This has happened since the vehicle was new."

    Anonymous, IL (2020 Honda Ridgeline RTL-E 3.5-L V6)
    Exterior lights (other than headlights)

"Grey accessory wire running from tailgate to exterior truck bed lights gets frayed"

    Anonymous, NH (2020 Honda Ridgeline RTL-E 3.5-L V6)
    Interior lights

"fuse controlling interior lights blows every week. Have disconnected to work around"

Anonymous, FL (2020 Honda Ridgeline RTL 3.5-L V6)
    Other electrical system problem

"At about 50,000 miles the parking sensors started randomly giving incorrect warnings (object in the road or apply brakes). The dealer identified that the sensor controller was failing. This failure also included the keyless entry system along with multiple other sensor systems. The temporary fix was simple -- turn off those systems. The controller was replaced under warranty and is currently working correctly."

    Anonymous, NV (2020 Honda Ridgeline RTL-E 3.5-L V6)

"Within a few of ownership, alarm began to go off randomly. Returned to dealer who attributed to recent recall involving tailgate wiring harness. Dealer kept vehicle for 7 weeks until parts became available."

    Anonymous, TX (2020 Honda Ridgeline RTL-E 3.5-L V6)

"Starter motor died without warning. Vehicle has autostart enabled to shut the vehicle off at stoplights; wondering if existing starter motor wasnt able to handle the volume of on/off starts that this generated."

Anonymous, ON (2020 Honda Ridgeline Black Edition 3.5-L V6)

    In-car Electronics

Infotainment system (audio, GPS, phone), rear entertainment system, backup or other camera/sensors, head-up display.

    What Owners Say

    Backup or other camera/sensors

"camera would work sometimes and then not work. After i had the MICU replaced it did not work at all. There was a recall for it and they performed the recall action and it is now working."

    Anonymous A., CT (2020 Honda Ridgeline RTL 3.5-L V6)
    Display screen freezes up

"The Head unit display intermittently freezes up, powers off, or screen responds erratically during the warmer months. It started about 1 1/2 years after purchased. The Honda dealer claims they couldn't replicate the problem and told me to capture on video. An electrical engineer friend told me he suspects it's an electrical grounding problem. By the time I was able to capture video proof the warranty expired."

    Anonymous A., MD (2020 Honda Ridgeline RTL-E 3.5-L V6)

"usually happens on drives longer than an hour and except for no changes on the screen, there is no indication the screen has frozen. happens on average once a month."

    Anonymous A., TX (2020 Honda Ridgeline RTL-E 3.5-L V6)
    Phone pairing (e.g., Bluetooth)

"Unless I pair phone when car truck is first started, the phone may or not pair."

    Anonymous A., TX (2020 Honda Ridgeline RTL-E 3.5-L V6)

    Noises/Leaks

Squeaks, rattles, wind noises, seals and/or weather stripping, air and water leaks.

    What Owners Say

    Air or water leaks

"Rain would drain from front of truck bed and drip onto the cab...the water then entered an unsealed body seam and dripped into the rear floorboard."

Anonymous, TX (2020 Honda Ridgeline RTL 3.5-L V6)
    Seals and/or weather-stripping

"We bought a certified pre owned Ridgeline from Hamilton Honda. We purchased new mats for the truck and when we went to install, the entire floor was soaked. We took it back to the dealer, who then had the truck for another month."

    Anonymous A., (2020 Honda Ridgeline 3.5-L V6)
    Squeaks or rattles

"Starting a couple of years after purchase, it sounds like the brake cables are rubbing on something. When pointed out to the dealership, they indicate that this is normal."

Anonymous, ON (2020 Honda Ridgeline Black Edition 3.5-L V6)

    Climate System

AC compressor, blower (fan) motor, condenser, evaporator, heater system, automatic climate system, electrical failure, refrigerant leakage.

    What Owners Say

    A/C compressor

"With only about 6000 miles total on the truck, AC abruptly quit working (some noise, then burning smell, then no cooling). Dealer wants about $2400 to repair. My driving has been entirely local and "gentle". Given the very low mileage (and the truck was purchased new in 2020) the last thing I expected was to need such an expensive repair. My inclination is not to buy Honda vehicles in the future."

Anonymous, UT (2020 Honda Ridgeline Black Edition 3.5-L V6)

"Compressor blew up leaving metal shavings throughout the system. Needed to replace whole system."

    Anonymous, UT (2020 Honda Ridgeline RTL-E 3.5-L V6)

    Anonymous, UT (2020 Honda Ridgeline RTL-E 3.5-L V6)

    Exhaust

Muffler, pipes, catalytic converter, exhaust manifold, heat shields, leaks.

    What Owners Say

"The side mirrors started to get loose about 1 year ago. This is a recall."

Anonymous, WA (2020 Honda Ridgeline RTL 3.5-L V6)

"Had to replace the very expensive battery at 50,000 miles"

Anonymous, TX (2020 Honda Ridgeline Sport 3.5-L V6)

    Suspension/Steering

Shocks or struts, ball joints, tie rods, wheel bearings, alignment, steering linkage (includes rack and pinion), power steering (pumps and hoses, leaks), wheel balance, springs or torsion bars, bushings, electronic or air suspension.

    What Owners Say

    Springs or torsion bars

    "Broken right, front spring."

    Anonymous, NB (2020 Honda Ridgeline RTL-E 3.5-L V6)

    Engine Major

Engine rebuild or replacement, cylinder head, head gasket, turbocharger or supercharger, timing chain or belt.

    What Owners Say

    Other major engine problem

"After driving 80 to 120 miles at a steady highway speed, with no stops, the engine misfires when I slow down and loses acceleration power. The vehicle also shudders when this is happening. I have been to three different Honda dealers and in contact with Honda USA. The dealers say they don't know how to fix it, and Honda USA won't authorize any further dealer efforts to fix it. It's very dangerous when trying to exit one interstate highway and merge on another."

    Anonymous, IL (2020 Honda Ridgeline RTL-E 3.5-L V6)

    Fuel System/Emissions

Sensors (O₂, or oxygen, sensor), emission-control devices (includes EGR), fuel-injection system, fuel gauge/sender, fuel pump, problems filling up the tank.

    What Owners Say

    Other emissions/fuel system problem
