    "Alarm would go off randomly."

Anonymous, AZ (2017 Honda Ridgeline RTL 3.5-L V6)

"The truck had an automatic "walk away" locking feature that became inoperative. Had to use the button on the door or the key fob to lock the vehicle. I become very reliant on this automated feature. It was repaired at no cost to me. Not sure whether the repair was covered directly by Honda (secret warranty?) or extended warranty purchased at the time vehicle purchase."

Anonymous, WA (2017 Honda Ridgeline RTS 3.5-L V6)

"Walk away Auto lock feature stoppedworking"

Anonymous, WI (2017 Honda Ridgeline RTL 3.5-L V6)

"There is a definite problem with the start/stop button. Honda issued a technical service bulletin to replace the switch at no cost up to 125000 miles. My truck is at 151000. Since the switch is defective, Honda should replace it at no cost no matter how many miles are on the vehicle."

    Anonymous A., AL (2017 Honda Ridgeline RTL 3.5-L V6)
    Other electrical system problem

"Driver side power window sometimes doesnt close completely. Have to press the button a couple of times to make it work. Not taken to the repair shop yet ."

Anonymous, FL (2017 Honda Ridgeline RTL 3.5-L V6)

    Transmission Major

Transmission rebuild or replacement, torque converter, premature clutch replacement.

    What Owners Say

    Torque converter

"My transmission seemed to slip when cold and going up a grade. Dealership told me that this was normal for the transmission. Then about 18 months later a transmission failure alerted on the dash display. Luckily Honda had extended the warranty due to defective torque converts to 8 years/80,000 miles ... so I didn't need to put out the $3500 for the repair."

    Anonymous A., CA (2017 Honda Ridgeline RTL 3.5-L V6)

"Got message alert about possible transmission failure. Called Honda and was advised to take it to Honda dealer if drivable. It was and I did. They diagnosed the problem, gave me a loaner car and fixed the issue at no cost to me."

    Anonymous A., GA (2017 Honda Ridgeline RTL 3.5-L V6)

"It felt like the transmission had difficulty engaging gears. The torque converter was replaced under warranty."

    Anonymous A., NB (2017 Honda Ridgeline Sport 3.5-L V6)

"Transmission is the 5 speed auto. Previous owner did not change fluid. Torque converter now shutters and will trip error codes over 63 mph. To change it will cost between 7 and $9000. I am flushing the transmission now keeping it running for now."

Anonymous, GA (2017 Honda Ridgeline RTL 3.5-L V6)

"The torque converter was replaced with the transmission described above. I didnt receive specifics about the issues."

Anonymous, MI (2017 Honda Ridgeline RTL 3.5-L V6)

"Problems with the torque converter starting at 60k miles. Multiple trips to Honda dealer. Finally the whole transmission had to be replaced"

Anonymous, OH (2017 Honda Ridgeline RTL 3.5-L V6)
    Transmission rebuild or replacement

"In early June, 2023 I got an error message indicating there was a transmission system problem. The message would clear upon restarting the truck but would reappear when driven above 60 mph. The dealership performed a transmission fluid flush ($350) which solved the error message for one day. After a couple of weeks the dealership replaced the transmission and torque converter. Honda covered all but $1500 of the estimated $9000 cost under good will since the truck was a year past their 5-year warranty albeit with only 51125 miles warranted for 60000. I was without a truck for a month. The truck has worked as expected for the 7 months since. Hondas response really didnt buy them any significant good will. A transmission failure after 51000 at a cost to me of $1850 was unacceptable."

Anonymous, MI (2017 Honda Ridgeline RTL 3.5-L V6)

"Torque Converter failed - was replaced with new under extended warranty. Now the transmission has failed completed and is pending replacement"

Anonymous, PA (2017 Honda Ridgeline RTS 3.5-L V6)

"I have had many problems with the transmission since my ridgeline hit 60k miles"

Anonymous, OH (2017 Honda Ridgeline RTL 3.5-L V6)

"Continious Dash indicator of problem with transmitting. Gears shifted rough. At about 120k miles. Replaced transmitton by dealer."

    Anonymous A., TX (2017 Honda Ridgeline RTL 3.5-L V6)

"In may 2023 I had to replace the transmission. I understand there is a problem with the 6 speed transmission in the Ridgeline. The dealer found me a used one. The cost of the transmission and labor was over $5000. If there is a problem with the transmission, Honda should replace it at no cost or at least help offset the cost."

    Anonymous A., AL (2017 Honda Ridgeline RTL 3.5-L V6)

"I got a warning message code. Which indicated a transmission problem"

    Anonymous A., WA (2017 Honda Ridgeline RTS 3.5-L V6)

    Transmission Minor

Gear selector and linkage, transmission computer, transmission sensor or solenoid, clutch adjustment, rough shifting, slipping transmission, leaks.

    What Owners Say

    Rough shifting

    "Triple transmission flush fixed it."

    Anonymous, AL (2017 Honda Ridgeline 3.5-L V6)

"Flushed the transmission Avery 30k miles"

Anonymous, NC (2017 Honda Ridgeline RTL 3.5-L V6)

"The transmission temp warning light came on and it would stick in a gear or I had to slow down so it would shift. Had to flush the fluid and replace with new. It did the same thing a month later and flushed and filled with new fluid again. Problem resolved."

Anonymous, IN (2017 Honda Ridgeline RTL 3.5-L V6)

"The Honda mechanic calls the problem juttering. It is a sensation like the engine is missing. They changed the transmission fluid twice and that takes care of the issue for about 18,000 miles and then needs to be done again. The mechanic said this is common for this make and model."

Anonymous, TN (2017 Honda Ridgeline RT 3.5-L V6)
    Slipping transmission

"Judder at 31,000 miles. Fluid change to fix under warranty. Judder at 43000 miles. Fluid change under warranty. Judder again at 45000 miles. On vacation, will contact dealer when we return."

    Anonymous, (2017 Honda Ridgeline RTL 3.5-L V6)

"Transmission started to jutter, as its called, in 3rd year. Service was very reluctant to repair under warranty but finally flushed 3 times to fix the problem. Started again in year 6; same fix, but this time as part of a $600 all-fluid change. Considered asking for a partial refund for the transmission portion but never followed through"

    Anonymous A., CA (2017 Honda Ridgeline RTL 3.5-L V6)

"Slipping transmission. 4 trips to shop, flushed and computer update. Still not fixed, but not consistent"

Anonymous, GA (2017 Honda Ridgeline RTL 3.5-L V6)

"I kept getting a message about a trans issue. The truck still drove normally but the mileage decreased. Honda would do nothing to help except replace the torque converter for $4000.00. I finally went to a private trans shop and had it rebuilt. The major actuator ring had separated at it circumference. Total cost for the rebuilt was $5,000. I believe the problem was caused by a Honda dealer putting Greens Trans Aditive into my trans mission because the problems began just after that."

    Anonymous A., WA (2017 Honda Ridgeline RTS 3.5-L V6)
    Transmission sensor or solenoid

"While driving at distances of five miles or less, there were times when the transmission would seem like its stalling then jerk into gear. It didnt happen all the time."

Anonymous, IL (2017 Honda Ridgeline Black Edition 3.5-L V6)

"Extremely hard shift from second to third and would not shift into overdrive / 6 th gear Ran codes and determined shift solenoid needed replacement"

Anonymous, AB (2017 Honda Ridgeline RTL 3.5-L V6)

"Emission light came on. Was told canister set has to be replaced. Had to be ordered. Took several months, a second trip to the dealer, and cost me approx. $1,500.00"

    Anonymous A., CO (2017 Honda Ridgeline RTL 3.5-L V6)
    Fuel injection system

    "Several bad fuel injectors"

Anonymous, CO (2017 Honda Ridgeline RTL 3.5-L V6)

"After sitting for 9 days the dash showed many icons at start up. Honda replaced the fuel injectors under an extended warranty."

Anonymous, TX (2017 Honda Ridgeline RTL 3.5-L V6)

"An engine light warning came on in December while driving. Honda service rep shut the warning off saying it may be a fuel system issue let us know if it happens again. It happened again 2 months later in February. Service rep shut the warning off and said they would diagnose on next service appointment. I scheduled a required service in and they diagnosed as a fuel injection issue they have been having with some of their vehicles. It did come on a third time right after the service and again they shut off. The injectors were replaced April 1st under their long term warranty that covers this issue. I havent had an engine light issue since the injector service."

    Anonymous A., BC (2017 Honda Ridgeline RTL 3.5-L V6)

""Problem with the emissions system" displayed on the dashboard in July 2024, but disappeared after a few days. It re-appeared in August when I took it to the dealer. The fuel injectors were replaced under the extended warranty on the vehicle."

    Anonymous A., NJ (2017 Honda Ridgeline RTL 3.5-L V6)

"Check engine light came on. Honda dealership diagnosed the problem as faulty fuel injectors. Repairs were made at no cost to me. Not sure if repairs made directly by Honda (secret warranty?) or by extended warranty purchased at the same time as the new vehicle purchase."
