Noises/Leaks
Squeaks, rattles, wind noises, seals and/or weather stripping, air and water leaks.
Reliability indicates how models have performed in the past, providing the basis for predicting how the vehicles will hold up in the year ahead. These charts provide the most comprehensive reliability information available to consumers. Based on information received from our latest subscriber survey, our reliability history charts give you a rundown on how used vehicles are holding up in 17 potential trouble spots, ranging from the engine, transmission, and brakes to power equipment and the electrical system.
The Reliability score is based on our latest subscriber survey of 2016 Ford C-MAX owners. The owner comments describe problems respondents experienced with this vehicle.
Squeaks, rattles, wind noises, seals and/or weather stripping, air and water leaks.

"Road noise has gradually increased over the years. Two mechanics have determined its due to the rear wheel bearings. One mechanic explained the bears are sealed so they cannot just be repacked with grease as in the past."

"It started with the check engine light coming on. Code showed unclear emissions issue. Downstream Co2 sensor was replaced. Check engine light came back on. I made an appointment (April 25th-next week) with Ford Dealer when I found out emission problems is still (barely) covered. 8 years or 80,000 miles. Check engine light went off & has stayed off. Im nervous the Dealer will deny there is a problem even though the trouble codes are still in the history. It remains to be seen if they repair the catalytic converter."

"Hybrid plugin, when the engine kicks in there is a loud humming(?) type noise that can drive one crazy. The Ford dealer can not find an answer except perhaps the exhaust system's modulator. The service department stated the noise appears to be in the back of the exhaust system and for about $1700 they could replace the system with no guaranty it would fit the problem. When calling the Ford company they had no answer to the problem."
