    Reliability

    Overall Reliability

We expect the 2025 Silverado 2500HD will have about average reliability when compared to the average new car. This prediction is based on data from 2022 and 2024 models and the Chevrolet brand score.

    Most Common Trouble Spots

    Owner Reported Trouble Spots

The Reliability score is based on our latest subscriber survey of 2020 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD owners. The owner comments describe problems respondents experienced with this vehicle.

    In-car Electronics

Infotainment system (audio, GPS, phone), rear entertainment system, backup or other camera/sensors, head-up display.

    What Owners Say

    Display screen goes blank

"Display screen will disappear randomly. If I press the Home button below it brings it back. I have it happen when I start the vehicle. I will turn vehicle off, wait a few minutes, and start it again. That usually makes the display appear. Sometimes it won't and I have to drive without the display. I did for decades, I can still drive without it. My other issue with electronics is a bigger problem: the automatic on of "bright" lights, the dashboard lights for the regular, bright, and low lights will all disappear, or the bright stay on when they shouldn't, or two of the three go blank. It could be a lose wire but feels more like a board problem."

    Other in-car electronics problem

"The in-car system is supposed to show the towing conditions of our travel trailer. Intermittently, we just get a blank screen."

    Anonymous, CO (2020 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD LT 6.6-L V8)

    Brakes

Premature pad/rotor wear, pulsation or vibration, antilock system, parking brake, master cylinder, calipers, squeaking, brake failure, regenerative braking.

    What Owners Say

    Rotors

"The brakes were squealing from the time I purchased the fleet driven truck. El Dorado Service Mgr said they'd order replacements and call me when they came in - that was 3 years ago this July 2024. I have checked in with them multiple times and been told each time that they haven't received any brakes shipments. After my initial service appointment at El Dorado, I did not want to return. Rudeness and long wait times are only the tip of the pile of poor customer service there. I searched, read reviews, and settled on Britain Chevrolet of Greenville, TX as my dealership for service. They've been outstanding in Customer Service and Service every time. Britain Chevrolet's Service Dept asked El Dorado Chevrolet Service Dept to transfer the brake repair to them but El Dorado Chevrolet refused. Additionally, they had the brakes in at that time but didn't call me. A couple weeks later, I went in to El Dorado for an "oil change" - (general catch all term used) oil change plus all the standard checks on filters and rotating tires - and only the oil was changed! This isn't the service I receive at Britain Chevrolet. They check everything, come talk to me about what was found, get my approval on what to do, and always rotate tires. I checked if the tires were rotated, they weren't, then discovered that the air pressure wasn't checked and was still extremely low, causing a huge problem. Service Stations air pumps do not have enough psi pressure to add air to 2500 diesel truck tires. Fortunately, a young man at another dealership took pity on me and put air in my tires since one tire was almost empty! I still don't have my brakes replaced. Prime example of why I don't use El Dorado dealership's Service Center. I was told when I went into El Dorado for that oil change that they've never gotten those brakes in. Who did they lie to? Britain Chevrolet or me? Either way, I don't trust folks who lie. Three years without receiving the brakes? Highly suspect. The electronics have an issue since I received the truck too. If they can't replace brakes, I'm not going to bother telling them about that. I was told that one of their upper management people was the prior driver. Why didn't he report these things? Why weren't they fixed before it was sold? I prefer to buy American. Quality needs to back up the American products. Coming from a Chevrolet plant city while growing up, this is not good. The employees at Will Dorado Service Center are at the bottom for service. Britain Chevrolet had it down cold. They know how to treat customers with respect, and follow a step by step process that ensures customer satisfaction most of the time. Can't be helped when cost of repairs are expensive- no one is going to be happy and satisfied then."

    Squeaking

"Brakes squeal at low speeds, with a recurring rhythm. Very common on this model for Chevrolet and GMC."

Reliability indicates how models have performed in the past, providing the basis for predicting how the vehicles will hold up in the year ahead. These charts provide the most comprehensive reliability information available to consumers. Based on information received from our latest subscriber survey for over 300,000 vehicles, our reliability history charts give you a rundown on how 2000 through 2024 vehicles are holding up in 20 potential trouble spots, ranging from the engine, transmission, electric motor, EV charging, and brakes to power equipment and the electrical accessories. NA indicates that we did not receive a large enough sample size to provide data for a specific year. An X indicates that the vehicle was not manufactured for a specific year.
