    Reliability

    Overall Reliability

We expect the 2025 Colorado will be much less reliable than the average new car. This prediction is based on data from 2023 and 2024 models, and the Chevrolet brand score.

    Owner Reported Trouble Spots

The Reliability score is based on our latest subscriber survey of 2019 Chevrolet Colorado owners. The owner comments describe problems respondents experienced with this vehicle.

    Transmission Minor

Gear selector and linkage, transmission computer, transmission sensor or solenoid, clutch adjustment, rough shifting, slipping transmission, leaks.

    What Owners Say

    Rough shifting

"Sometimes it shifts hard, i.e. not smooth in between gear changes. Not all the time though."

Anonymous, PA (2019 Chevrolet Colorado Base 3.6-L V6)

"Last year , rough shifting Service drained and flushed"

    Anonymous, MD (2019 Chevrolet Colorado Z71 3.6-L V6)
    Slipping transmission

"With research I learned that this is a major widespread problem that should have caused a recall. It seems they are hoping warranties expire before the problem presents itself."

    Anonymous A., FL (2019 Chevrolet Colorado LT 3.6-L V6)

    Exhaust

Muffler, pipes, catalytic converter, exhaust manifold, heat shields, leaks.

    What Owners Say

    Other/unsure

"The key would occasionally get stuck in the ignition when we turned off the engine. We spent $1,000 replacing the solenoid without success. We then learned online a trick about flicking the drive selector button to release the key. We still have to do that occasionally."

Anonymous, MD (2019 Chevrolet Colorado WT 3.6-L V6)

"Around 60K miles, truck went into "limp"mode. It turned out that the computer was faulty. Dealer replaced truck computer at no cost to me under drivetrain warranty. No problems since."

    Anonymous, NY (2019 Chevrolet Colorado Z71 3.6-L V6)

"Engine temperature sensor went bad and was extremely expensive to fix"

    Anonymous, IN (2019 Chevrolet Colorado Z71 3.6-L V6)

    Engine Cooling

Radiator, cooling fan, water pump, thermostat, antifreeze leaks, overheating.

    What Owners Say

    Antifreeze leaks

"Lower coolant hose clamp rusted, broke apart and large amount of coolant leaked out of the system over 2-3 days. Occurred once at about 45000 miles."

    Anonymous, NY (2019 Chevrolet Colorado Z71 3.6-L V6)
    Thermostat

"Noticed air conditioner wasnt working. Than truck stopped all together. Wouldnt start. Had it towed to dealership. Dealership replaced thermostat and all was good afterwards."

    Anonymous A., CA (2019 Chevrolet Colorado LT 3.6-L V6)

    Fuel System/Emissions

Sensors (O₂, or oxygen, sensor), emission-control devices (includes EGR), fuel-injection system, fuel gauge/sender, fuel pump, problems filling up the tank.

    What Owners Say

    Emission control devices (includes EGR)

"Engine light, faulty sensor in gas tank, pensive repair not covered under certified warranty"

    Anonymous, NH (2019 Chevrolet Colorado Z71 3.6-L V6)
    Other emissions/fuel system problem

"Had issues with EVM exhaust vehicle module. Vehicle was still drivable when fault light popped up. Check engine light went away once EVM was replaced."

    Anonymous A., CA (2019 Chevrolet Colorado LT 3.6-L V6)

    In-car Electronics

Infotainment system (audio, GPS, phone), rear entertainment system, backup or other camera/sensors, head-up display.

    What Owners Say

    Radio

"Have had problems with the radio since the first year. Dealer could not solve the problem only saying it was an ongoing problem with Chevrolet."

Anonymous A., NC (2019 Chevrolet Colorado LT 2.5-L 4 Cyl)

    Electrical Accessories

Cruise control, clock, warning lights, body control module, keyless entry, wiper motor or washer, tire pressure monitor, interior or exterior lights, horn, gauges, 12V power plug, USB ports, alarm or security system, remote engine start, heated or cooled seats, heated steering wheel, headlights, automatic headlights, automatic wipers, wireless charging pad.

    What Owners Say

    Other electrical system problem

"Driver's side rear door wiring harness: internal wiring insulation failed or wore out causing a short-circuit. Harness had to be replaced. Dome light no longer came on when opening the rear door. Caused issues with alarm system, power window for that door, speaker in the door was dead for a period after making crackling noises, smell of shorting wires was evident. Those issues were fixed during the diagnosis, but the part is not carried in stock at the dealer and it took over a month before the part could be ordered and scheduled before installing to replace the defect and restore electrical power in the left rear door."

Anonymous, OR (2019 Chevrolet Colorado LT 3.6-L V6)

    Transmission Major

Transmission rebuild or replacement, torque converter, premature clutch replacement.

Reliability indicates how models have performed in the past, providing the basis for predicting how the vehicles will hold up in the year ahead. These charts provide the most comprehensive reliability information available to consumers. Based on information received from our latest subscriber survey for over 300,000 vehicles, our reliability history charts give you a rundown on how 2000 through 2024 vehicles are holding up in 20 potential trouble spots, ranging from the engine, transmission, electric motor, EV charging, and brakes to power equipment and the electrical accessories. NA indicates that we did not receive a large enough sample size to provide data for a specific year. An X indicates that the vehicle was not manufactured for a specific year.
