Ford and Lincoln SUVs Recalled Again to Fix Backup Camera Problems

Some Ford Explorer and Edge and Lincoln Aviator and Corsair SUVs will need additional repairs after a previous recall

Ford and Lincoln are recalling over 51,000 SUVs to repair their backup camera for the second time. The backup camera on these vehicles may still not work even after an earlier recall because the software updates meant to fix the problem may have failed.

    MORE ON Car RECALLS

The recalled vehicles include the 2021-2022 Ford Edge, 2020-2023 Ford Explorer, 2020-2022 Lincoln Corsair, and 2020-2023 Lincoln Aviator. When these vehicles are in Reverse, drivers may notice a distorted or blank image or see an error message. This could increase the risk of a crash while backing up.

If your vehicle is included in this most recent recall, you’ll need to bring it back to a Ford or Lincoln dealership for another software update, even if your car has already had a recall repair. As with all recalls, the fix is free of charge.

Ford told the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration that it is not aware of any crashes or injuries related to this recall.

This is the latest in a series of recalls involving backup cameras on Ford and Lincoln vehicles. Prior recalls have affected the Ford Fiesta, Ford Flex, and Lincoln MKT; the Ford Bronco, Lincoln Aviator, and Lincoln Navigator; the Ford Maverick; and the Ford Mustang. Another group of Ford Explorer, Lincoln Aviator, and Lincoln Corsair SUVs were recalled twice in 2021 and 2023 after 17 crashes and 2,115 warranty claims involving backup camera issues.
