    CR's Take

A premium priced car seat with integrated wheels that also works as a travel system. While not a typical infant seat, this product performs well considering it doubles as a stroller. (See stroller ratings for the Doona Car Seat Stroller). Make no mistake, this is a heavy seat, but it can instantly convert to a stroller once it is out of the vehicle. Although appearing large, this infant seat is surprisingly compact. A good seat overall with LATCH fit-to-vehicle rating better than Belt fit-to-vehicle. There are many release handles, buttons, and moving parts that all have to be in the correct position for safety, but can be frustrating to learn during initial use.

    Detailed Test Results

Consumer Reports’ car seat crash test, developed in 2014, provides comparative performance information on which car seats could provide an additional margin of safety.  All child seats sold in the United States are required to meet government safety standards, and Consumer Reports’ tests are not designed to test compliance with those standards.  Rather, we evaluate the seats’ performance under conditions designed by our experts to simulate certain crash scenarios, and rate them on a scale ranging from “basic” to “best.”  The test conditions have been carefully designed to simulate the interior environment and forces encountered during a crash in contemporary vehicles.
